Frogs! Educational Programs for ECE to Grade 8

Experience the most visually stunning, vocally pleasing, and adaptively remarkable life forms on earth with RBG’s winter exhibit, Frogs!  If you’ve never thought of frogs as beautiful, this exhibition will change your mind! Frogs! curriculum connected programs introduces your students to the amazing and colorful world of frogs. These amphibians are among the most visually stunning, vocally pleasing, and adaptively remarkable life forms on earth.

ECE / Kindergarten

Amazing Amphibians 

Amphibians are amazing animals! In this fun and interactive program, students will learn about the different kinds of amphibians we have in our local wetlands and in other habitats around the world. There will be stories, rhymes, discovery stations, and a chance to explore of our Frogs! exhibit.  Program is approximately 2 hours in length and includes time for a snack break. 

Arts: Wild Wetlands 

Wetlands are beautiful places! Students will examine colour, shape, texture, and form while exploring our Frogs! exhibit. Through the creative process, students will create a piece of art based on inspiration from amphibians and wetlands. Program is approximately 2 hours in length and can be adapted to include time for a snack break. 

Grades 1 to 8

Grade 1-2: Wetland Wildlife 

What lives in a wetland? This program introduces students to characteristics of wetland animals through games, activities, and exploration of our Frogs! exhibit. Students will discover the basic needs and adaptations that animals use to survive in wetlands. Program is approximately 2 hours in length and can be adapted to include time for a snack break. 

Grade 4: Wetland Habitats and Communities 

Wetlands are critical habitats for many species, yet these habitats are disappearing. What happens when humans interfere with wetlands? Students will explore the components of a healthy wetland habitat and what organisms complete this community while exploring Frogs! exhibit. Program is approximately 2 hours in length and can be adapted to include time for a snack break. 

Grade 6: Wetland Biodiversity 

Students will explore the diversity of wetland plants and animals while viewing our Frogs! exhibit. Through simulations, students will uncover why biodiversity is important to a wetland, what happens when that diversity is impeded, and how disease affects a population. Students will learn about the challenges faced by RBG’s wetlands, what we are doing to restore them, and how they can help. Program is approximately 2 hours in length and can be adapted to include time for a snack break. 

K-8 Arts: Wild Wetlands
