Temporary Closure of Royal Botanical Gardens

March 27, 2020

As organizations worldwide take increased measures to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), Royal Botanical Gardens is extending the length of its temporary closure until further notice. RBG continues to follow guidance from Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and is working closely with the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries and will notify our customers when we have a date for reopening. The safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers remains Royal Botanical Gardens’ top priority and this temporary closure includes all private and public events, camps, public programs, gardens, trails and natural areas.

We would like to assure our visitors and customers that all ticket purchases to events or programs during this time will be fully reimbursed. To our valued members, RBG is working to ensure all active memberships will be extended to reflect the period of this closure. We will update all members with specifics of this extension once we re-open and resume normal operations.

Despite this temporary closure, our virtual gates remain wide open. We will continue to showcase the incredible beauty and resources of Royal Botanical Gardens through daily social media updates and online experiences.

As spring forges ahead, let us bring our outdoors to you with RBG at Home, our commitment to offering diverse and entertaining learning opportunities for all ages. With a full lineup of virtual programs, tours, and multimedia experiences, RBG at Home aims to provide you and your family with much-needed inspiration during these challenging times. Visit us online often to stay in touch with RBG and the natural world!

These extraordinary circumstances magnify the importance of Royal Botanical Gardens. We know we must continue in our mission to connect people, plants and place for the purpose of nurturing and preserving healthy growing life on our planet.

We appreciate your continued support that is allowing us to move forward and affect much needed change in this increasingly shifting world. When we welcome the world back to our gardens and natural areas, this critical need will continue. If you would like to lend support through donation, please visit us online to learn how you can make a difference.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

Stay well and be safe. We look forward to seeing you at the Gardens again soon.
