The Indigenous People and Plants Discovery Trail will showcase Anishinabek culture’s relationship with Ontario’s native flora. The trail will be created in partnership with Anishinabek elders and traditional teachers.

The 2017 Speaker Series features informative lectures exploring Ontario’s history and connections to our natural world, as part of our celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation for Canada and Ontario.

Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Hamilton – 49th Annual Japanese Floral Art Show & Demonstration

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; RBG Centre

Ikebana (Japanese floral art form) originated with Ikenobo over 500 years ago, beginning in Kyoto, Japan, as a Buddhist floral offering. Passed down through generations of the Ikenobo family and from teacher-to student, the teaching of Ikenobo has spread throughout Japan and around the world. Learn about this beautiful art form and take in a demonstration starting at 2 p.m.

Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection

In 2013, Hamilton businessman and Burlington resident Dan Lawrie donated the first sculpture of The International Sculpture Collection to Royal Botanical Gardens. In 2017, new sculpture will be added to celebrate the Sesquicentennial.

The Great Pumpkin Trail

Join us for our signature Halloween event, a magical nighttime adventure along the Pumpkin Trail! The glow from hundreds of jack-o-lanterns lights your way and guides you along a kilometer of trail and garden paths. Visitors are treated to live entertainment and other pumpkin-themed activties. Pre-registration required for this time-ticketed event.

Tea Festival

Warm up with a hot cup of tea and sample different varieties from around the world. From green to rooibos, oolong to herbal and everything in between, learn all about your favourite types of tea with educational presentations. Celebrate the classic hot beverage with live performances and experience its cultural origins first-hand with a traditional tea ceremony.

Local Railway Heritage Display

Rock Garden

The Local Railway Heritage Display features a unique model train display that celebrates and depicts the rich heritage of railways throughout Hamilton, Burlington, the Niagara Escarpment, and Lake Ontario shoreline.

Winter Traditions

We’re celebrating Canadian Winter Traditions with food, heritage and environmental programing as well as children’s musical, theatrical, and story performances. Holiday Traditions returns with the RBG Botanical Train Show and a Signature Santa Experience.

RBG's Fest-of-Ales returns to help kick off the holiday season in the best way possible - with craft beer! We're going big this year with more breweries, more food stations, two DJ's, a cash bar for those wanting libations other than beer, and a mocktail station for our important DDs!

Our centennial Rose Garden is getting a facelift! Watch this exciting project as it gets underway in 2017.The refreshed Rose Garden will allow RBG to interpret and promote Ontario’s innovation in sustainable gardening practices for visitors.
