The Orchid Society has greenhouse space within the Royal Botanical Gardens that houses a collection of approximately 1200 species and hybrid orchids. The Canadian Botanical Conservation Network is to aid organizations and individuals in Canada that are concerned with the conservation of the diversity of plant life, such as botanical gardens, arboreta, universities, government agencies and others to realize their potential to contribute to the conservation of biological diversity.
Native plants play a dynamic role in defining Canadian landscapes and our sense of place. The Green Legacy exhibition explores the beauty, diversity and vulnerability of Canada's native plants. Find out why plants are important, what threatens them, who works to protect them, and how you can help. This family-oriented, bilingual exhibit will change the way you see our plant heritage!
The purpose of Cootes to Escarpment Conservation and Land Management Stragety is to complete the background work for a new management framework for the natural lands in the area, based on extensive community consultation and planning work. What has emerged is a new vision for a park system that brings maximum benefits to both people and nature. The work to date has identified a very strong potential for managing the natural lands within the study area so as to fight the loss of biodiversity that inevitably results when natural habitat is fragmented, and strengthen public recreational enjoyment of these important lands.
The Canada's National Focal Point for the Global Stragety for Plant Conservation web site is an information resource and networking tool in support of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation in Canada, a set of targets and recommendations at the international level to help halt the loss of plant species world wide.
