Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is the largest botanical garden in Canada, a National Historic Site, and registered charitable organization with a mandate is to bring together people, plants and nature. Charitable donations help us to:
- protect and restore 2450 acres of nature sanctuaries containing environmentally sensitive habitats, where approx. 50 listed species- at-risk have made their home;
- teach the public and educate schoolchildren about the importance of plants and nature, and how to be environmental stewards in their community;
- create display gardens which beautify our region’s landscape and teach people how to transfer best practices into their own backyard;
- host events that celebrate our landscape and highlight our conservation activities (e.g. Fishway demonstrations, nature sanctuary guided tours, children’s winter exhibits); and
- engage in research projects and networks to pursue environmental sustainability.

Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to cherish today’s events and yesterday’s memories. Gifts of any denomination can be made in memory of a loved one or to honour an event, individual or family. Every tribute gift is acknowledged with a card sent to the honoured individual or next of kin. Additional recognition is provided in RBG’s Paradise Found and Annual Report.
RBG has additional donor tribute options through our Memorial Tree and Bench Program. To learn more about this program, please contact the Development Department.

Royal Botanical Gardens depends on its members, donors and volunteers to continue our important charitable work. Our Legacy Program is a way to show your commitment now, without affecting your income today. Planned gifts can take many forms: a bequest, charitable gift annuity, RRSP/RRIF or life insurance policy. Each of these options can provide a significant tax advantage and RBG recommends donors seek legal and financial planning advice when making such a gift.
To learn more about how you can make a planned gift and/or other tax-saving giving options, please contact the Development Department.
