Let there be Rock. Grab a cold one while our house DJ provides a rock n roll soundtrack to an unforgettable evening at the legendary Rock Garden! This summer, RBG’s Rock Garden will be transformed into the region’s best patio. Join us for food and cocktails, unique programming, and special guests.

After Dark Adventures

Celebrate summer evenings at the Rock with themes and activities for each evening! The first and fourth events celebrate the solctice and equinox with astronomy-themed evenings, while the second and third embrace the healing power of the earth.

Third Rock from the Sun / Harvest Moon

Look up to the sky and celebrate the summer solstice (June) or the fall equinox (September) with astronomy-themed nights complete with star-gazing telescopes, a walk-in planetarium and guided tours through nooks and crannies of the majestic Rock Garden.

Earth Healing

Find your Zen and harness the healing powers of crystals, consult with a tarot card reader and learn the benefits of essential oils with an aromatherapy session. If the tranquility of the Rock Garden wasn’t already enough, this evening will leave you feeling as mellow as a summer sunset.

Tickets >>

Tickets are available for purchase online, payable by credit card. Your tickets will be emailed to you as a pdf attachment shortly after online payment. You will be required to present these tickets upon arrival, either printed out or digitally on your personal device. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.

Tickets are final sale.

Age and ID >>

Attendees must be 19 years of age or older to attend. Please ensure you have a government-issued ID on your person during the event; anyone who does not present a valid ID upon request will be asked to leave.

Inclement Weather >>

This event is rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather RBG staff may cancel the event. Your ticket will be valid to attend another RBG After Dark: On the Rocks event of your choosing.

Directions and Parking >>

This event is held on the upper level of the rejuvenated David Braley and Nancy Gordon Rock Garden, at 1185 York Boulevard, Hamilton. Parking is included, and available in the parking lot across the street. Accessible parking is available closer to the Visitor Centre.

Rock Garden is accessible by Burlington Transit. For more information about arriving at RBG by bus, visit rbg.ca/directions.

No outside food or drink permitted at this event. Food and beverage available for purchase (scroll up for menu)

Pets / Service Animals >>

With the exception of service animals, personal dogs/cats/animals are not permitted at this event. If you are looking for somewhere to take your pet on a stroll, check out our 27km of trails!

Smoking >>

Effective January 1, 2012, Royal Botanical Gardens and its property is smoke-free. Smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited in all properties owned by Royal Botanical Gardens. This includes all buildings, garden areas, natural lands, trails and parking areas including vehicles. All visitors to Royal Botanical Gardens must leave Royal Botanical Gardens property in order to smoke.

Accessibility >>

This historic Rock Garden includes wide, paved pathways. Access to and from the lower bowl of the garden includes a long sloped path. Some garden games and other activities may be located on grassy areas.

The majority of the parking spaces are in the lot across the road, though some accessible parking spaces are available directly outside the building.
