Investing in the Leaders of Tomorrow

September 16, 2026

In 2026, we were lucky to have four interns working in the areas of Species at Risk, Terrestrial Ecology, Aquatic Ecology and the Herbarium. They did aquatic surveys, worked at the RBG Fishway, removed invasives, restored habitat, planted native plants, tracked turtles, studied the tree canopy, identified plants in the wild and much more. We also had 54 summer students assisting with: Species at Risk, Aquatic Ecology, the Herbarium, Visitor Experience, Gardening, Trail Maintenance, Event Set-up and RBG Summer Camps. It’s a real win-win for everyone!

At RBG we believe in harnessing the power of young minds to shape the future. Through our Summer Student & Internship Programs we provide hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and invaluable career-building opportunities. Students gain practical skills, expand their professional networks and develop confidence in their chosen fields, all while contributing to RBG’s mission.

Our ability to teach and invest in the next generation of leaders depends on the generosity Your support allows us to create these life-changing experiences, ensuring young professionals gain the skills and confidence they need to make a difference. Together we are shaping the future—one student at a time.

Our 2026 students and interns were generously supported by:

  • Government of Canada – Canada Summer Jobs Program
  • Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming
  • Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks
  • TAKLA Foundation
  • M. Hunter Foundation
