Program FAQ

Does this program run in inclement weather?

Kids Gardening programs strive to inspire in children a life-long love of nature, in all seasons and all weather. Plants love the rain, and so do we! Please dress appropriately for all weather conditions. In the case of severe weather such as thunder/lightning, high winds, or extreme heat, we will move to an indoor location at RBG Centre when available. If class must be cancelled due to severe weather and indoor spaces are not available, you will be notified by email at least one hour prior to class start time.

If a program is cancelled or postponed, a message will be posted on the Program Update Line at (905) 527-1158 ext. 404 at least one hour before the program is due to start. If the weather seems questionable, it is your responsibility to verify that your program is being offered.

What health and safety measures are being taken for this program?

Proof of Vaccination: RBG requires all participants age 12 and up to prove they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Please be prepared to present an Ontario’s vaccine certificate with QR Code (paper or digital) along with an official government-issued ID showing name and date of birth.

COVID assessment form: We will be asking families to complete a COVID assessment form prior to each Kids Gardening program. Participants are asked to conduct this screening the morning of each program. If participants fail the screening for any reason, they are asked to stay home.

Masks: Once the COVID assessment form has been completed and the screening passed, you and your child will be able to attend the Kids Gardening program. We will require all participants ages 2 and up to wear a well-fitting mask for the duration of the program.

Physical Distancing: We understand that in an early years play environment and when working with children, physical distancing can be challenging and may not be fully possible. While moments of close contact during these programs may be unavoidable at times, health and safety practices are strictly followed.

Contact tracing: We track participant attendance daily and gather participant contact information during the registration process.

Safe outdoor interaction and materials use: Our staff have worked hard to develop activities that maintain safe outdoor interaction as recommended by the Ontario Ministries of Health and Education. Additionally, we use materials that can be easily sanitized after program, or between uses if the material in question will be used by multiple participants.
