Botanically Dyed Garden Cards

Join artist Beverly Allen in the RBG gardens to learn a history of natural dyes and explore the plants that have been used for this timeless process. Use plants from the RBG gardens to create special garden cards capturing the colours and forms of your plants.

About Beverly Allen, Natural Dyes Textile Artist
Beverly Allen is a multi-media artist from Burlington. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles, with further study in papermaking. Beverly has exhibited her paintings locally, nationally and internationally including the Canadian delegation to the Grand Palais’ Salon des Artistes Independants in 2017. Since 2017 she has studied and experimented with natural dyes on textiles and paper, investigating local Ontario plants. She has studied natural dyes with India Flint, Natalie Slopka at the Textile Arts Center in New York and ink making with Maida’s Tim McLaughlin. She is delighted to share her knowledge of capturing botanical colour at the RBG.
