Botanical gardens and arboreta are one of the sectors in society contributing to progress on the targets of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation.
In 2001 an action plan on biodiversity issues was prepared by botanical gardens in Canada. In 2006 an update and status report was prepared which fully integrated proposed actions to the targets of the GSPC.
