FRENCH LANGUAGE DAY
March 12th

Royal Botanical Gardens is pleased to announce French Language Day as part of Pioneer Energy’s Battle of the Titans.
French language programming will include a Prehistoric Puppet Show, Cretaceous Crafts, Story saurus story-time, and Paleo Programs, featuring an ever-changing line-up of interactive presentations.

 

La Bataille des Titans: Journée Francophone
March 12th

Les Jardins Botaniques Royaux sont heureux d’annoncer une Journée Francophone ce mardi 12 mars faisant partie de l’exposition hivernale: La Bataille des Titans de Pioneer Energy.
Le programme de l’exposition offert en français inclue un spectacle de marionnettes, des bricolages, des histoires et des programmes paléos, présentant une suite d’activités interactives variées.

 

PREHISTORIC BRUNCH
March 17th, April 7th

Whether you’re a carnivore or herbivore the Gardens Café is cooking up some delicious brunch that would satisfy even the hungriest of beasts. Enjoy dino-themed activities amongst the dino-décor while you satisfy your appetite, and then spend the rest of the day at Dinosaurs: Battle of the Titans!

LIVE ANIMAL SHOWS

This is your chance to get up close and personal with some real, modern-day reptiles! Join interpreters from The Reptile Store and meet their crew of weird and wonderful critters in this interactive experience. Shows last approximately 45 min.

 

CAPTURE A DINOSAUR (Public Program)
March 16; 10 a.m. to noon at RBG Centre.

Fee: $30 (Members 10% off) (Kids 8 to 12 years)

Capture a dinosaur on camera and learn photography techniques such as composition, lighting, camera angles, close-ups and more. What could be greater than taking pictures of Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops? Cameras are available for loan and USB sticks are provided. REGISTER NOW.

 

The Mysterious Case of Who Dung It?
Show and book signing by Jacob Berkowitz
March 23rd and 24th; 11am and 1pm

Free with admission.

Based on the book Jurassic Poop, this is a unique, hilarious, theatrical 30-minute presentation on the science of fossil poop — coprolites. Chief Bottom, Dung Detective finds a mysterious coprolite and needs the audiences’ help to find the poopetrator. Audience members are sworn-in as junior dung detectives and use their “CLAWS” clues to help bag this case! Performances are be followed by a Q&A session a book signing of Jurassic Poop.

 

DRAWING DINOSAURS FOR KIDS (Public Program)
Saturday, March 23; 10 to noon at RBG Centre.

Fee: $25 (Members 10% off)(Kids 8 to 10 years)

Tour the Battle of the Titans exhibit to inspire your imagination then join artist Heidi Scarfone for fun instruction in interpreting these giant dinosaurs onto paper through the use of graphite pencil and/or watercolor. Turn your dinosaur experience into cartoon drawings complete with a dinosaur story, or create drawings that really leap off the page. REGISTER NOW.

 

MAKE A DINOSAUR SCULPTURE (Public Program)
Sundays, March 24; 9:30 a.m.to noon, March 31; 10:30 a.m. to noon at RBG Centre.

Learn about these massive dinosaurs by molding them from clay. Use the Battle of the Titans exhibit for inspiration to form your own 3-D dinosaur from clay. Under the guidance of artist Lia VanPelt-Riddell, learn perspective and proportion and take home your very own dinosaur. All supplies are included. REGISTER NOW.

 

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DRAW
Saturday, March 30; 10 to noon at RBG Centre.

Take a guided tour through the Battle of the Titans exhibit as artist Heidi Scarfone explains proportion, shape and perspective. Once back in the classroom she guides you through these techniques using graphite pencils, watercolor or colored pencils and develop skills in line weight and shading. All supplies are included.
