Alex grew up in
the UK and after gaining a degree in horticulture worked in many

conservation horticulture within botanical gardens. Alex worked at
the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where in the School of Horticulture
he assisted with the academic curriculum development of the Kew
Diploma, implemented and assessed conservation horticulture training
programmes for students, interns and staff, and delivered the intern
programme. In addition he was the sustainability coordinator for the
School of Horticulture.
Alex moved to
Canada in 2006 where he took up the position of Curator of
Collections at Royal Botanical Gardens. In this role he is

collection policies and assisting with implementation of
horticultural management strategies. He also co-develops and
coordinates the student education programme and seminar series.
Alex's current research interests include cultivar conservation,
phenology, the cultural and societal connection and value of plants
and gardens, and exploring low impact horticultural management strategies. |
