Educational experiences you won’t want to miss!

The following programs occur Daily from January 28th – April 15th, 2012:
  • The Cacao Marketplace
    10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Visit the Marketplace to discover chocolate in its purest form. Touch, smell, and taste the plants and ingredients that make the product we love.


    The Chocolate Chase
    10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Grab a passport and trading sac and you’re on your way on our scavenger hunt adventure! Collect cacao beans by following clues then trade them in at the Marketplace for a reward. Note: this is a self-guided activity.

The following programs occur Monday to Friday from January 28th – April 15th, 2012:
  • Chocolate Tales
    10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
    Take a 15-minute break with our interpreters for story time. Storybooks, dramatic story telling, and action stories make this program ideal for younger audiences.


    From Tree to Treat: Making Chocolate
    11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
    Interpreters make chocolate right in front of your eyes (and you taste it along the way)!


    Grow it, Buy it, Taste it: the Stories of Chocolate
    12:30 p.m.
    Chocolate has so many stories to tell! How does the cacao tree grow? Is all chocolate created equal? Discover these answers and more with these 30-minute interactive programs.


    From Tree to Treat: Making Chocolate
    2:00 p.m.
    Interpreters make chocolate right in front of your eyes (and you taste it along the way)!


    Chocolatl: the Aztec Drink
    2:30 p.m.
    Interpreters take the audience through the process of making this traditional drink using methods developed by the Aztecs and later refined in Mexico.


    Cocoa Creations
    3:00 p.m.
    Join interpreters for this ‘make-and-take’ activity that will guide children and parents through the cocoa creation of the day – from cocoa butter for your skin to chocolaty sculptures (to look at, not to eat)!

  • Chocolate Tales
    10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
    Take a 15-minute break with our interpreters for story time. Storybooks, dramatic story telling, and action stories make this program ideal for younger audiences.


    A ChocoSol Experience!
    11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. (tentative) and 3:00 p.m.
    ChocoSol Traders is here at RBG! Join these experts for a fun and interactive workshop on weekends and holidays. Workshops include: Tortilla-making*, Chocolate Tasting, Chocolate-Making, The Teachings of Cacao*, and ChocoSoil*.
    *These programs are on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited in capacity due to material and space limitations.
