Statistics Canada maintains a Web search engine where the sizes and
populations of cities, towns and other areas can be found. The table below
was prepared by searching that Web site for the cities named. For the
assignment, please use the city or town where you are currently residing,
in the Hamilton area. You can search for other cities in Canada at: http://ww2.statcan.ca/english/profil/

The statistics in this table were collected in 1996 for the census.
This information is therefore prior to the amalgamation that produced
the "Megacities" of Toronto and Hamilton.

Units: Confused about acres and hectares and such? One
square kilometre (km2) is equal to a square of land one km
on each side. One hectare is equal to a square of land 100 metres on a
side. A few conversion factors follow below the
statistics, just in case they may be helpful.
